ESP is currently closed due to COVID-19.
Please read below for further details.

The first priority of any school district must always be the safety of the children served.  Because we are a PreK-6th grade school district, our current situation is especially difficult.  It is unrealistic to expect kindergartners or even second graders to practice social distancing.  Their natural inclination, in fact their need, is to be together—playing closely together, handling toys, whispering, holding hands.  These are what elementary-aged children do.

At this time, decisions about Murfreesboro City Schools must consider the natural actions of children as well as the contagion associated with COVID-19.  Therefore, the Extended School Program (ESP) will remain closed until July 20.

By announcing this now, we are hoping to give our families enough time to seek alternative childcare during the weeks school will not be in session.  Having said that, we deeply regret the inconvenience this may cause some of our families.  But again, during the current environment, we are choosing to err on the side of caution.

Any fees paid towards Summer ESP including camps and Material Fees will be refunded. Please allow one week for processing credit, debit, or e-checks. For money orders, allow up to 6 weeks. For billing/refund questions, please contact Jessica Weakley by email (jessica.weakley@cityschools.net).

Fall registration for School Year ESP 2020-2021 will be available July 1st online at www.ezchildtrack.com/esp/parent.

The Extended School Program (ESP) provides a safe, educationally enriching, fun and rewarding experience for all students of Murfreesboro City Schools. Our students have the opportunity to attend a variety of enrichment classes after school. We offer a wide range of classes including but not limited to sports, music, arts and crafts, woodworking, ballet, hip hop dance, cheerleading, cooking, journalism, science, technology, foreign languages, robotics, and many more. We also provide our students with homework assistance and tutoring in specific subjects. Please feel free to contact the site director at your child's school with any questions that you may have. We look forward to meeting your family and assisting with your before and after school needs in any way we can.

The Extended School Program will:

*Provide a safe learning environment for all students enrolled in ESP.

*Offer after-school and summer academic assistance to identified students.

*Provide opportunities for expanded experiences in the areas of fine arts, music, science, technology, language arts, math, recreational sports, health and wellness, and other targeted areas of interest to students.

*Provide a variety of life and cultural activities through field trip experiences.

*Employ quality, certified and non-certified staff to plan and implement student activities at each site.
