Inclement Weather Policy
ESP INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
“Snow days”
Murfreesboro City Schools Extended School Program (ESP) desires to serve working parents who depend on ESP for
their childcare needs during inclement weather – snow days. However, we are aware that there are times when safety
may cause ESP to adjust its hours or to close completely.
If school opens late, ESP will open at 7 a.m. at your home
school. If school is dismissed early because of weather, ESP
will operate from dismissal until 5 p.m.
If school is closed for the entire day due to the weather, ESP
will operate at FOUR locations with condensed hours,
from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Those sites and schools served will be:
Discovery
(serving families from Discovery, Bradley, Cason Lane, Cason Lane Pre-K, and Mitchell Neilson)
Erma Siegel
(serving families from Erma Siegel, John Pittard and Northfield)
Reeves Rogers
(serving families from Reeves Rogers, Black Fox and Hobgood)
Salem
(serving families from Salem, Overall Creek and Scales)
Children must be registered for the current ESP School Year program in order to attend. Changes to the above information such as host sites, times of operation, etc. may be made depending on each individual situation that transpires.
Registration information and notification is required before attendance.
After children are in ESP, if weather conditions worsen and
the Director of Schools determines that ESP needs to close
early, MCS will contact parents and the media. In addition,
“School Messenger” will send a message to your phone number on file when there are changes in hours of operation or closures. The ESP Central Office phone number is
615-893-2313.
You may also keep up with notifications via Twitter at @MCScommunicates.
ESP is open to those families who attend Murfreesboro City Schools
in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. A completed registration
form, registration fee, and health history must be on file.
