Inclement Weather Policy
ESP INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
“Snow days”
Murfreesboro City Schools Extended School Program (ESP) desires to serve working parents who depend on ESP for
their childcare needs during inclement weather – snow days. However, we are aware that there are times when safety
may cause ESP to adjust its hours or to close completely.
If school opens late, ESP will open at 7 a.m. at your home
school. If school is dismissed early because of weather, ESP
will operate from dismissal until 5 p.m.
If school is closed for the entire day due to the weather, ESP
will operate at FOUR locations with condensed hours,
from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Those sites and schools served will be:
Black Fox
(serving families from Black Fox, Bradley, Hobgood)
John Pittard
(serving families from John Pittard, Reeves Rogers, and Erma Siegel)
Northfield
(serving families from Northfield and Mitchell Neilson Elementary & Primary)
Salem
(serving families from Salem and Overall Creek)
Scales
(serving families from Scales and Cason Lane)
Discovery families may attend the site of their choice.
Registration information and notification is required before attendance.
After children are in ESP, if weather conditions worsen and
the Director of Schools determines that ESP needs to close
early, MCS will contact parents and the media. In addition,
“School Messenger” will send a message to your phone number
on file when there are changes in hours of operation or
closures. The ESP Central Office phone number is
615-893-2313.
You may also keep up with notifications via Twitter at @MCScommunicates.
ESP is open to those families who attend Murfreesboro City Schools
in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. A completed registration
form, registration fee, and health history must be on file.
